Meeting of the Board of Trustees
December 7, on St. Catherine’s day which is considered as the Hermitage museum birthday, a joint meeting of the Board of Trustees of the ’Special Endowment Fund Management for the Development of the State Hermitage Museum’ (Endowment) and the Board of Trustees of the State Hermitage was held in connection with its 250th anniversary.
The meeting was attended by the members of the Board of Trustees of the State Hermitage and the Endowment: Vladimir Potanin, Mikhail Piotrovsky, Pierre de Labouchere, David Yakobashvili, Marina Sitnina, Antoine Ernst, Eugene Satanovskiy. Among the participants were invited guests: CEO of the Endowment Ekaterina Sirakanian, members of the director’s board Larisa Zelkova and Marina Tsyguleva, Chairman of the Audit Committee Marina Antipova, Director of the British Museum Neil MacGregor.
First the general director of the State Hermitage museum Mikhail Piotrovsky reported on the museum’s activities for celebrating this anniversary, completed projects and coming exhibitions. Mr. Potanin stated a mutual opinion of participants by expressing their deep appreciation for the executed work and achieved results.
Ekaterina Sirakanian reported on the results of the Endowment in 2014 and in particular, acquisition of 18th century card tables by the museum thanks to the donation from the income generated in 2014 by the Hermitage Endowment Fund. Then Ms. Sirakanian announced the financial results of the previous years of the Fund’s activity. She informed that the final Financial report 2014 and the draft of Financial plan for 2015 will be presented by the Management Company in January 2015.
The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the results of the Fund Management over the years and asked Ms. Sirakanian to prepare the Financial plan for the development and use of the Endowment Fund in 2015 by the end of February 2015.
At the end of the meeting, David Yakobashvili presented his gift to the State Hermitage for its 250th anniversary (the carved portrait of Empress Catherine II, dating from 18th century).
